SJJHL Makes $3,000 Donation to Fiona Relief
The St. John's Junior Hockey League presented a cheque for the amount of $3,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to support their Hurricane Fiona relief efforts. The League held the fundraiser over a number of games league-wide.

Alex Carter, Marcus Buffett, and Cody Drover, the three players in the League from Port aux Basques, all play for the Pizza Express Northeast Eagles and were on hand for the presentation. Carter said that "the devastation at home cannot be understated" and that he knows that "Port aux Basquers are a resilient bunch". Carter extended his gratitude to the SJJHL for organizing the fundraiser and that it "means a lot to us playing in a league that really supported our home in a time of need".

SJJHL President Jim Hare was proud of the response to the League's fundraiser. "Members of the SJJHL community really stepped up to give to the people affected by [Hurricane] Fiona. These people woke up with their lives forever changed, some without even a toothbrush left. We are very proud of the response from our teams and their fans on this initiative."
